Future Places Project
Intro
The City of Atlanta’s Future Places Project is an effort to ensure that Atlanta is well-positioned to champion and enact historic preservation initiatives for decades to come.
The initiative—comprised of extensive research, comparative analysis and public outreach—hopes to create a compelling narrative that captures the heart and soul of Atlanta’s historic places and better shape preservation policies into the future.
We were tasked with giving the initiative a name that makes historic preservation more relatable and relevant to the general public.
Historic preservation is about keeping Atlanta's identity intact as the city progresses forward, so we focused the name and message on an idea that is most relevant to all residents: the future.
In keeping with the Department of City Planning’s master visual identity system, the Future Places Project boasts a bright and imaginative purple paired with bold typography.
With plain-spoken optimism, the initiative's messaging simplifies the value of historic preservation and invites the public to actively participate in this critical civic topic.
