Kilby
Intro
At home on the square.
When Toll Brothers partnered with Matchstic to develop a name and visual identity for a new 259-unit apartment community in Frisco, we knew we’d want to capture the energy of a rapidly-changing and upwardly-mobile destination.
One of the nation’s fastest-growing cities, Frisco, Texas is also consistently rated as one of the best places to live. Located north of Dallas, the formerly sleepy suburb has grown into a magnet city for talent and a haven for families.
Inspired by Jack Kilby, an American electrical engineer who helped develop the first integrated circuit at Texas Instruments, the name nods to the ideas of innovation and connection. And with Kilby’s luxury apartment community bringing something new to Frisco square, it felt fitting to honor a new kind of Texas pioneer.
The visual identity centers around a custom wordmark. The elegant script calls to mind the distinct hand-painted signage one might find in gold foil on a restaurant window, invoking a sense of classic hospitality. Paired with monochromatic lifestyle photography, the effect is both inviting and elevated.
