+ KidSpring Identity & Environment Design

Brand Idea

KidSpring is the children’s ministry designed for children at NewSpring Church. Kids ages birth through fifth grade experience safe, age-appropriate environments where the Bible is taught in a creative and relevant way. KidSpring engages children through fun activities, teaching and worship allowing them to experience a world where they meet Jesus on their level!

 

Profile

The KidSpring brand exists physically in a large adjoining building to the main sanctuary of NewSpring. It has seven uniquely designed environments to meet every child on their level, including Imagination (K-1st), JumpStreet (2nd- 3rd), Shockwave (4th- 5th), Wonderway (Nursery), Basecamp (Volunteer Kids), SpringZone (Special Needs), and Spring Town (Pre-School).

 

Project Goals

•  Develop a naming system, brand architecture, brand identity system and environment design for NewSpring’s children ministry

•  Connect the brand name and identity back to the parent church identity

•  Design each environment so that “Wow” is the first word uttered by parents and children when they walk into the new building

 

Process and Strategy

In collaboration with NewSpring leadership, Matchstic created a brand brief to outline the brand strategy. Then our team developed a naming architecture, designed a parent brand identity system, concepted environment ideas and finalized the environment design.Then our team worked with an implementation and build out team to ensure the brand played out in each environment. Finally, we developed a launch strategy to introduce KidSpring to the entire church community.

 

Creative Solution

Matchstic worked with the NewSpring team to name and design the new brand identity, which was embodied in the loveable character, Iggy, NewSpring's own spring mascot. Matchstic also concepted, designed, and helped implement all the ministry environments, including a 12’ custom made Rocket for children to play in, a hallway design telling the story of creation in simple patterns and shapes, and another hallway complete with everything from a Firestation to a toy store called Springtown. The KidSpring brand turned into a magical world of “wow” with each environment uniquely designed for each child.

 

Results

By creating an irresistible environment for these kids, KidSpring is now seen as one of the top kids ministry in the country, constantly giving tours (and even hosting conferences) in their building. Most importantly, they’ve been able to teach, grow, and engage kids in an experience like no other.
