Sense of Place

I love to see a brand built around a sense of location.

Last week, a friend of ours, Chase Andrews of Remedy Films, posted the above photo on Instagram.  Now, I'm not particularly fond of Coors beer, but it suddenly made the company seem a little more real to me.  For all I knew, the whole Colorado & Rocky Mountain part of the brand was purely concocted in a brand positioning session.  But these are the actual mountains the the Coors icon was built around.

I love when a brand is built around authenticity and a sense of place.  We love Atlanta 'round our office and from time to time we discuss ways in which we can help make our city a better place and display our pride for our city.  Recently we were researching the history of Atlanta taglines and found that during the civil rights era this tagline emerged, "Atlanta: The City Too Busy To Hate."  We even mocked up this possible t-shirt as a way of displaying our pride for our city.

What are other brands that you like that embrace a sense of place?

"I would definitely wear that tee! What a great tagline too especially during the civil rights area."

"Yeah! I've totally wanted some Atlanta heritage tees. Matchstic should do these.
Please."

"I just got tears in my eyes when I read the old ATL tagline and saw the tee. It's so good. We have to get some printed!"
