Augmented Brochure

Just when you thought brochures couldn't get any more expensive…

Augmented reality isn't anything new of course. Developers have been overlaying computer-generated elements onto real environments for a while. Some more farsighted than others but all of them moving us ever closer to that "help me OB1″ moment. This however seems quite palatable to me and much more interesting than a QR code linking to a website or YouTube video. I love how a linear brochure about a car becomes a 3D experience with that car. Customers get a much more unabridged view of how it might look in black with tan leather. I can see this working well for product based brands. Perhaps also service based but I hope not. I'm still trying to forget that website tour-guide trend where someone would walk out on the screen and read the page. Yikes. I don't imagine I'd like to see an animated version of my meal at a resturant either. It's perfect for something designed that can be seen in the round. Perhaps also an info-graphic poster of a production process or architectural blueprint coming to life in a whole new way. Love the possibilities.
