Do Work That Matters

Why is doing what we love important? Isn't a job just a job? A 9-5. A paycheck. You know, "Just working for the weekend". In June I'm speaking at the HOW Design Conference on why doing what we love fulfills more than just our bank account.

I love to work with passionate people. People who pour their heart and soul into their organizations. When I know what's on the line I don't mind working the extra hours to make sure the logo, the name, or the strategy is perfect. I think that's why I love our On The House clients so much. That is work that gives me a sense of accomplishment of improving our city.
If you are a graphic designer and want to impact the world through using your talent you should come to the HOW Design Conference this June in Chicago. The conference has more than 35 sessions and 30+ expert speakers all centered around the idea of perfecting the profession of graphic design. I'll be leading a session on "The Problem with Probono, The High Cost of Giving" and discussing the importance of doing work that matters, but in a responsible way. Giving should be fun and fulfilling, not painful and filled with regret.

As a special promo to our blog readers HOW is giving us a "friends and family" discount for $100 off, and if you register before April 1st you'll get another $100 off for the Early Bird special. Just use the promo code: HBH11

Only one catch, you have to come and watch my session on Saturday June 25th from 3:45- 5:00pm

And yes, that's a bribe.
