Ten Questions with Staci

Meet Staci Janik, the newest designer at Matchstic. She’s a graduate of the Creative Circus and brings with her a love of science, enthusiasm for breakfast, and expert hand-typography skills.

Who are you and what do you do?

Hello. My name is Staci. I design things. I collect things. I eat a lot of pizza.

Where are you from?

I’m from a small town south of Atlanta called Warner Robins, famously known as Warner Vegas.

How did you get into design?

I always knew I wanted to do something visual. When I moved to Atlanta six years ago, I met a lot of designers. I suppose I followed my instincts. It made sense.

First week impressions?

Awesome. It is nice to be able to work with other creative, talented individuals.

What do you bring to the table that's unique?

Science. And jokes.

Describe your style.

There is definitely a hand rendered quality to my work but I think I switch my style slightly from project to project. I like slight imperfections and I like things simple and functional.

What inspires you?

Old emphemera, music, photography, history, architecture. I get a lot of inspiration from things I read, listen to and watch. When I hear someone else talking about what they do, that inspires me too. It gets me excited.

Where is your favorite meal in Atlanta?

Biscuits and gravy at Gato Bisco. I could eat breakfast three times a day.

What is your drink of choice?

Rye Whiskey and Red Rock Ginger Ale.

It's been awhile since I've had some Red Rock. It burns so good. Are you gonna make sure they stock some in the Matchstic fridge?"

- Bryan Johnson
