Brand Archaeologists
Posted by John Bowles on November 22, 2010 ShareWe dig. As we venture into different cultures, different companies we re-discover the lost and forgotten. We dig through the surface layers. Into the dirt. Beyond the formal mission / vision statements. We learn the language. The way people speak. The folk lore, the folk songs and the natural order of life. The history, the hopes, the fears and the dreams. We look for the priceless, the unique, the valuable. What we call the truth. The reason why a company exists beyond making money. We bring it to the surface, bring it to the light. Why, because we believe that the truth is powerful. That when it's made known, the implications can ripple transformationally across company culture. Inspiring its people, its product and its future. We realize that truth and change are often met with resistance. So we try our best to approach humbly and respectfully. We do this best not as foreigners but as locals. So that is what we become, one of the team.
