A Lesson in Commitment
Sounds like a steal, right? But how much do they pay every year to make it mean something?
The Nike swoosh doesn't have meaning because of its elegant simplicity or pleasing form, but because of Nike's commitment to build meaning over time through the context surrounding that symbol. Context like the epic "Write The Future" commercial below. It's a testament to branding. True meaning is built through time with constant commitment.

"I'd still consider it a steal because of the amount of revenue gained from the logo use is astronomical. That artist's $35 work has become a lifestyle symbol for people all over the world. Yes without the money invested in branding the company would have less sells, but you could also argue the same about the logo design itself."
