Calling All Interns

We are opening our doors to one Graphic Design 2010 Summer Intern, but this year we wanted to make the application process a little more interesting.

The Matchstic Internship Program is incredibly important to us as a company. Its not just someone who comes in to get coffee or run errands, but we want someone to be immersed in our culture with one goal in mind: to learn and grow as an individual and as a designer.

Instead of filling out superfluous applications with cliche questions we want applicants to design a poster using some provided elements and guidelines. Here's how it will work, Using any of the 3 images or 3 graphic elements provided below design a poster based off of 1 of these three phrases:

1. Say It Simple. Be Calm. Smile.

2. Work Hard & Be Nice to people

3. Some Things Are Not Important

That's it. Pretty simple, right? Here are the provided images and graphical elements to use:

And Now a couple of rules:

• You can use any geometric shapes

• The poster must use at least 2 of the images provided

• You can only use Helvetica, Garamond, or Lubalin Graph as your typeface (or your own custom typography)

• The poster must contain one of the three phrases above

• The poster much be submitted with a story form explanation, containing no more than 300 words.

To officially apply email jobs@matchstic.com with the poster entry, no more than 3 portfolio projects, and your resume by April 23rd at 5pm. We are incredibly excited about the next chapter of the matchstic internship (wtih big shoes to fill).

Enjoy the challenge and happy creating!

"To answer any questions looming out there, the rules aren't super rigid. Have fun. Tell a good story. Impress us :)"
