The lid on it.

But I never would have thought there were so many variations. Not sure where all these are from. I do recognize both Dunkin Donuts and Starbucks though. Probably because they're what I buy most. But haven't we all had that one "bad lid." The one really horribly designed lid that either spills all over you or burns the side of your mouth. At which moment you think how-in-the-world could someone have thought this was a good design for a dang lid. Either somebody didn't know what they were doing or didn't care. It's a simple job to design a coffee lid, right? I mean coffee lids are pretty insignificant compared to the coffee at least. So what's with all the design variations? Why not just a plastic circle with a hole? Must be more than meets the eye. I'll bet there is a ton of r&d that goes into these designs. Remember that McDonalds lawsuit back in the day over spilt hot coffee? I'll bet Dunkin' Donuts and Starbucks have put some money into their lids for that reason. There's a metaphor or lesson in here somewhere. Maybe nothing is too insignificant or bad design is built to spill. Maybe something inspirational like never stop improving or make it good to the last drop. You can decide.

"This is an interesting post. It really makes you think. And you are right when you say "haven’t we all had that one 'bad lid'.” I had a bad lid one time in college and I didn't sleep for three days. You've got to watch yourself.
Another product that they should "never stop improving" is electric razors. I have a friend who uses one and I swear he looks like George Michael. Razor companies can do better. American deserves better."
