3D Fun Extravaganza
![]()
Such was the case this week, when Daniel showed me this new set of crazy animated images promoting M.I.A.'s upcoming album. The images were produced by Jamie Martinez, who has a pretty extensive portfolio of similar animated gifs.
We decided this would become the next Internet phenomenon, and it would only be a matter of time before some new app comes out that generates awesome animated gifs and they start getting plastered all over TwitPics. So we had to make some. Now.
After extensive Internet research, we found out the process essentially tries to reproduce a 3D effect with a pair or more of 2D images. By shifting the angle of these images, an illusion occurs that makes objects in the foreground and background look like they move independently; therefore, "3D".
Our first attempts are pretty rough, and they are best viewed when listening to thumping techno in the background.
